I just got a 2009 iMac 21.5 and it's great, the sound is fine, but I want master EQ control over sound. Not in iTunes, but at sound panel so I can control EQ of general playback no matter the player - ie. Quicktime browser plugin. Or when using any other playback from desktop. Is there such an item out there for master control of EQ?

hmm...good question. For the sake of drivers, stability etc i'd use an external EQ. For music playback you could use itunes to shape your sound

Audio hijack is a great app. You can apply a lot of different audio fx to specific applications or to your whole system. It's mainly meant for recording sounds on your computer, but you can just use it as an eq too. Only downside in the free version is you have to go and turn the fx back on every 10 mins. Though if you dish out the $30 you don't have to deal with that.
