I have an iPhone with no phone service and was wondering if there's a way to use its wifi connection for a computer? The computer runs OSX.

It would be nice if i could use something from the app store, but a jailbroken app would be fine too.

Edit: Also the computer has no blutooth.

Jailbreak + PdaNet

That will allow you to tether your computer, to the phone's connection.

You need to have Wi-Fi on the computer though.

This isn't exactly what you asked though... I'm not sure if maybe you asked the wrong thing?

Are you trying to find a way to use Wi-Fi for a computer that doesn't have it? If so, you could try the above method, plus a USB cable, but I'm not sure what the results would be.

There used to be an app called 'Netshare' that let you do this, but now the only way is to jailbreak your iPhone and load some special software on it. You could try searching Google for your answer.

@ geerlingguy--

That was my instinctual answer as well, but that isn't actually what the OP is asking...

you probably could if you had the right program but it might be a complex thing to do.

Im trying to use the iPhone in place of a wifi card. My computer has no working wifi. Would netshare do this?

Try reading the thread troll.

So does anyone know away to use the iphones wifi connection from a computer over USB?

that makes a little more sense that the original post. I have never heard of anything that does that yet but its not that pointless i guess lol, just get a wifi card/ lol like 20$

Hahahah...you are a genius.

thanks that means allot coming from you.

Yeah i wasn't looking for a permanent fix, just a fix so I could use my hackintosh instead of an iMac G3 for the next week or so, before a new macbook comes.
