I know there are several other close options, I have a dvd burner that will effectively record whatever the lens is seeing if I push record on the sony dvd recorder unit. I have a hitch unit, and I know somehow, someway, there has to be a way. I suppose it has to be something to tell the unit how to handle data coming into it. Same thing with an external hd. So, ideas????

Thanks,

B

Can you explain a little more clearly what you are trying to do? Are you asking about copying a DVD to a hard drive/iPod?

No no, what I am trying to accomplish is use an ipod in place of or at times in addition to a minidv tape. Thus, recording the same thing to ipod that you would to a minidv tape. What this does is minimize DRAMATICALLY, the time it takes to get data from camera to computer for editing. Make sense? Look at a firestore unit.

So somehow you would need to record via firewire to the iPod; which iPod do you have?

The one I have in front of me is a black faced 30g that I got when I bought my macbook pro in 07 i think it was. Assuming it is video compatible. Never used it.
