I have the new remote with the round pad. Unfortunately something melted ice cream got spilled on it and now there is some resistance when clicking the buttons. I want to disconnect or unpair the remote so i can eork all the buttons but without being able to unpair it every time I try the ATV turns on and off and the screen goes wild.

So does anyone know of a way to unpair the remote?

Thanks.

Nah, that would be too easy and obvious. Seriously, thanks. I should have thought of that. I need more coffee this morning!
LOL, I hear you. I'm dead in the water until at least the second cup of coffee!

BTW, the new Siri remote (2021) can be taken apart for thorough cleaning and repair, but it isn't easy. It requires a tiny torx screwdriver, a steady hand, and a lot of courage. There are some videos posted showing how, so google if needed. I would use something like alcohol to clean it since it will evaporate fairly quick. Water based cleaners might penetrate the case and cause a short.

Please delete, I was wrong ( thought it was pressing and holding the AppleTV button and Volume Down buttons for 10 seconds ).
