I currently have an iPhone 3G running on 4.1 with 06.15 bb. Is there any way to update to 4.2.1? For now I'm just going to leave it without messing up anything.

With 6.15 iPad baseband, from now on, only way for you to update is create/use a custom firmware. In this case, custom 4.2.1 that also keeps current baseband.
