My family has recently decided to change plans from Alltel (CDMA) to Viaero (GSM). I was filled with excitement with this new news. I am wondering if anyone has been successful in unlocking the iphone and using a Viaero sim card with complete compatibility (like using Viaero's EDGE service)?? I really don't feel like blowing $300 on an iphone and not being able to use it. Thanks in advance!!

Late, but better now than never.

Its been 5 monthes since you posted this, so youve probably already got an answer somewhere else, but here it is just in case.

Yes you can use an iphone on Viaero. It doesnt matter if its the 2g or 3g. The phone just needs to be unlocked. And you will have to get the 40$ smartphone package to use all the internet functions.

I live in western Nebraska (Scottsbluff area) and have an iphone on viaero and love it.

Enjoi,
Alex

Did you get a 3GS phone to work? Which jailbreak did you use to get your phone to work on Viaero? Do I have to have a phone contract already with Viaero and then transfer the settings to my iphone? Any help with the steps for getting this to work on Viaero would be great. Thanks

I just unlocked a 3GS for a friend of mine. Would someone be able to post screen shots of the Viareo apn setting on the iPhone? Thanks
