Anybody change the key cup on their MBP?

Hi guys, new member here. I changed the J key on my A1706 machine and noticed it didn't feel like the others and had to press down harder on it. I took the tile off and since my replacement keys came with cups and butterflys I figured I'd change them also. Well, there must be some kind of trick to doing this as I went through 4 cups trying to fix this thing. It appears that there are some tiny feet with flat projections on the bottom and think I may be pressing too hard to get the cup on the board or something breaking them off. Any help appreciated. This has the second generation rubberized cups on it.
