Before going s8+ I thought a curved screen would be off-putting. No sir. Honestly it gives the illusion that I don't have a phone in my hand it's like a new experience. Hard to explain but it's a positive no doubt.
I will say the curved display is really nice looking, I don't know how useful it may be, but visually it increases the beauty of the phone imo. I do think the X is a beautiful phone in its own right, so I'm not sure if I miss it on the X or not.
I still dont trust apple screen hardness against scratches. A mild curve can still accommodate a decent screen protector. Unless they use something like sapphire i personally dont want any super curved edges.
Honestly no. Don't get me wrong, I currently have an s8 plus, and the curved screen is cool looking, but weaker. I also get a ton of accidental taps because of my palm hitting the side of the screen, on that curve. Cases just look weird on this phone, and seem semi pointless since it leaves a good part of the screen vulnerable if it lands the right way on the right object.

I recently had a Galaxy 8+ for a couple days, first non-iPhone smartphone I've ever tinkered with. That curved display is amazing. I'll have to withhold judgment on the X until I have it in my hand but the black ring around the screen really seems to stand out (not to mention the cutout at the top), I certainly wouldn't consider it bezel-less. Compared to previous iPhones maybe, but not compared to the Galaxy. Samsung really blew past the competition with that one and I think it'll take years for them to catch up.
