Anybody else fascinated by that Lincoln MKZ commercial?

You know...the space-y looking one with the cool "4-3-2-1" song?

That thing is a work of art. (The commercial, I mean. I've no idea about the car. ) Exquisite photography, gorgeous effects, and the music just brings it all together so well. (I rarely look up music used in commercials, but I did for this one. I just had to have it.)

The music, BTW, is by Shiny Toy Guns. You can see the commercial (as well as another one) here. It's the second one, called "Major Tom". (First commercial ain't bad either!)

I know it's only April, but this has got to be the Ad of the Year.

Ah, that explains something for me. I'd seen people reference the Shilling song, but some of them called this one a cover of David Bowie's "Space Oddity".

I don't know...would you call it a cover when the only similarities are the theme (astronaut stranded in space) and the name of the "main character"? The tune and lyrics are completely different.

I'd be more inclined to agree with you, that Shilling's "Major Tom" was inspired by Bowie's tune, and then Shiny Toy Guns covered Shilling.

That "Under the Milky Way" commercial is cool too, BTW. Thank you for that. I like the guy's comment underneath: "Is it just me or are all these Lincoln Commercials like the best commercials ever made!?"

I also wonder if Shiny Toy Guns' logo is just a coinkydink?

wow it's really funny if you are used to the german version and then hear an english cover ... though i have to say this new version doesn't quite have the "shiver down the spine" quality like Schillings original

great german lyrics but nowhere the genius of EAV - Märchenprinz from 1985 but that is for the german native speakers only i guess

That commercial doesn't actually make sense. 27 seconds of Muno, sock monkey etc flailing around then something about "buy this car". Maybe its just over my head lol.


This Nissan commercial featuring Van Halen-"you really got me now" is still my favorite. Unfortunately all the good quality audio versions on youtube have had the audio taken out.

As far as car commercials go, that one with the hot, short haired brunette is a winner



The beat, the hot chick and presto you're glued to the screen. They've got your attention and then ........ there's the Acura. Pretty smart advertising.
