What I use my current iPhone 8 Plus on Apple Upgrade Program for:

Normal web browsing
Social media
Lots of YouTube
Photography
Watching Netflix (travel often for work)

I currently am about 49gb of a 64gb so I need to up my storage.

I am also looking to get the Apple Watch series 4 since I currently have a series 0.

I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg (my wife doesn’t get my tech obsession).

XR seems to be awesome for the price and battery but 720 has me a little nervous

Xs seems to have all the bells and whistles and easy to hold in the hand for the selfies the wife always asks me to take (her SE takes crap)

Xs Max seems great for those movies while in the air but for the 256 a $240/year increase from my current AUP payments.

Thoughts? Really struggling with this years... more than any other!
[doublepost=1536872454][/doublepost]ohhh also I have t-mobile and hoping the update to the band 71 makes a big difference too

The regular Xs is equivalent in screen size to your 8 plus.

It also has nicer cameras, which is why I upgrade every cycle.

So suggest you get that one with 256GB, if you want to stay on the AUP and can’t justify the Xs Max

If you want to leave the AUP, then a cheaper used X 256GB may be your answer

Not necessarily. The screen is more narrow. Where the 5.5 is slightly wider.

8 and 7plus
1920 x 1080 @ 401 ppi
4.788 x 2.693 = 12.89

Xs

2436×1125 @ 458 ppi
5.32 x 2.46 = 13.07

Xs max
2688 x 1242 @ 458
5.86 x 2.71 = 15.89

I prefer wider screen on my 7+. If I upgrade it will be Max, however price for 256 is making me gag... 64 too small for me.

I am trying to decide between the Xs and the Xs Max 256GB.

The price difference on AUP is $4. $56.16 for the Xs and $60.03 for the Max. The Max is apparently bigger than the Note 9.

Only a few hours to decide...

Welcome to the dilemma... usually a sure pick, but what if I get the Xs and then decide I want the Max will I be able to switch easily or go weeks without a phone?!?

I’m right there with you. Currently on a 7+ that runs fantastic (especially so with iOS 12). I know the Xs will bother me with the narrow screen. But that price on the Max 256gb is getting difficult to swallow.

I am so confused. Have you not seen an iPhone X in the wild or at an Apple store the last year? The Xs is the same size as that. There are plenty of comparisons for the iPhone 8 Plus and X and the 8 plus is usually preferred for video over the X because it is much wider. If your watching lots of videos you are probably wanting to go Xs Max.

I returned the X last year as the screen was too narrow for my apps so the X isn’t the same size for me. I’m currently waffling on whether to pull the Apple IUP option on my 8+ for the max but the price is just too crazy....

Honestly I really have not had a lot of time handling an X. And I kinda just think that the size of the Max screen officially will make it a two hand phone. Which is fine for many applications but will definitely make some things more difficult.

I didn't like the size of the X because of it being more narrow and the keyboard felt cramped. I had already purchased the 8 Plus, so I was pretty much out of luck.

Since the monthly cost is about the same for the Xs and the Max, it makes the most sense for me to pick the Max.

If you have to ask then get XR. Those that are obsessed with XS or Max kinda know why they are.

Oh thought you were used to and fine with two hands since you've been using an 8 Plus. I'm with you I'd prefer the Xs so I could use it one hand, but that's only because I have an iPad Pro for when I need a larger screen. If I only had an iPhone I'd sacrifice the convenience of carrying around a smaller phone and go with the iPhone Xs Max.

Little known fact an iPhone Xs Max is $100 dollars cheaper than an iPhone Xs with AppleCare + if you are willing to gamble on not having accidental coverage :)

I assume you meant 'without' Apple Care Plus? When you use the Apple Upgrade Plan, there is no option to skip Apple Care.
