About 50% of iPhone 4/4's have rattling sleep wake buttons, when the other 50% don't.

Its not defective by any means.

No, he means it has some play. But that play does make a slight rattling sound, especially if the phone is shaken left to right.

Mine rattles slightly if I shake vigorously and I only notice when my ear is close to the phone.

I'm pretty picky and even my verdict on this is: non-issue.

Your not, my 4S has an extremely loose sleep wake button. My friend's 4S has a very, very solid, firm sleep wake button.

One of the things I checked when I unboxed mine. No rattle here. Seems very solid.

That's normal. Some do & some don't. I've got one of each. It's production tollerances. No problem.
