Hello, given the noise generated by the butterfly keyboard, anybody has issues on using MBP 2017 in quiet areas such as the library? Anybody got kicked out from those rooms with a silent sign? There are areas that requires absolute quiet. I certainly get annoyed if somebody bring in a laptop with noisy keyboard. I also do not want to be the one to create the noise to disturb other people.

Anybody asked to leave quiet ares because of the noisy keyboard?

Not only is the new KB design noisier, it's also (IMO) a much pleasant sound in general.
It's a bad combo of being a more annoying sound and one that is audibly louder also.

meh - no clue how the "design company" thought those aspects alone (sound/volume) were a good design to push out. All of these factors (how it works, feels, sounds, experience, etc) are part of a design and they failed miserably on many counts (we won't even talk about the now acknowledged reliability nightmare)...

...all to make it thinner
smh

And this is why I always were sound-canceling over the headphones at libraries when I was going to college.

In my case my 2017 MBP keyboard has gotten quieter in general and I have learned that I don't have to type as hard as I do on older keyboards.

Do these sound-cancelling headphones work to eliminate those noisy keys? I may need to get one when I study in the library.

I really hate people using noisy keyboard in class. A girl was sitting next to me typing the entire class. I could not hear what the speaker said. Really annoying. I guess that is why I dislike DELL so much that I don't want to try their products.

Except for the Thinkpad, used to be cheap laptops with noisy keyboards from Windows manufacturers vs. quiet keyboard from Apple.

Noise canceling bluetooth headphones definitely help (if you get a decent brand like Sony or Bose), and it helps with consistent noises like fans, keyboard clicking etc. Only thing they don't work on as much is people talking.. :(

And I use a Thinkpad for work myself (work supplied). I agree they are one of the quieter keyboards you can get on a Windows machine, although I experience more fatigue from it now that I am used to the new MacBook Pro keyboards.
