Anybody installed Windows 8 on a 2008 Unibody Macbook (Aluminium)?

I've bought Windows 8 and am trying to install via USB (DVD drive has been replaced with an HD).

I've successfully created a USB installer which works on a PC but when I try to boot on the Mac (by holding the option key at startup) it shows up as "EFI Boot" and hangs the computer if selected.

Any ideas how to get the MacBook to boot via USB or do I have to reinstall the DVD drive?
