I've moved to a new state, added a new line to my ATT account, and got the number changed to a local one on my Iphone 6s Plus. At first I couldn't get any texts or imessages, fixed that by changing my number in settings to the local one. But I now I can't get my imessages to work. Signing in and out of my apple ID just changes the number back to the old one. I've tried multiple combinations of resetting my network and whatnot and nothing is working. The last thing I'm going to try doing is a factory reset and restore. Anybody know how to fix this?

Try these two things - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201349

I've been through those pages already. I think the only thing that will fix this will be a factory wipe. So I'm backing up my stuff now and praying this works.

I had this same issue when I came to China. I'm still here and got it working. It was stuck at activation for a good 3 days and it finally worked. I set it as my email only, took my number off. Then signed in and out a hundred times. Finally it worked then I added my Chinese phone number.

What a hassle..hopefully this factory reset fixes it. I reset it and went in to check my number and it was the correct one. So now I'm restoring and hoping it doesn't continue to mess up.
