I had mine since the launch and I hate Face ID so much, words cannot express how much I miss Touch ID! The only good thing about the X is the swipe gesture, but that’s about it. I wish I could go back in time and just stayed with my iPhone 7, but at the same time I know buying a new one will only be a bigger burden as Apple has retired Touch ID.

thosw who are staying with theirs, how are you coping with it? And has anyone recently downgraded to the 8 or even below that, regardless of knowing that next gen iPhones are ALL Face ID? I’d love to hear what you’re going to do knowing you will eventually be forced into buying iPhone with Face ID AGAIN.

There’s a whole thread on people moving from x to 8 / 8 Plus & it definitely isn’t a “downgrade ” as you put it. Why did you keep the phone anyway if you hate it so much?

I used to regret buying the iPhone X , but jailbreak changed that for me. Got rid of the annoying swipe to unlock with faceId.

I missed Touch ID on my old iPhone 7 for about a week. I despised Face ID for the first few days. Now I really like it. Go figure. Either I got used to it, or it got used to me? Whatever, it’s effortless.

As far as regretting the iPhone X purchase: I don’t really regret it - But I don’t think it was really necessary either. The X is a great phone, but my old iPhone 7 (less than a year old when I replaced it with the X) was powerful enough for me. I gave the old iPhone 7 to a family member and it’s going strong. Indeed, I still regularly use my old iPhone 6 (around the house) and it’s still snappy.

I see myself keeping the X for several years. It does everything I need. I think iPhones have reached a functional plateau. It’s all diminishing returns now.

You could have sold the X and bought an 8. You can still do that.
As I mentioned in my original post, it would be pointless for me going backward when the future is Face ID. If I buy the 8 my experience will be short lived, as theyll never be made again... so I’d be selling it due to Face ID only to be buying it again I future.. dammit Apple, why couldn’t they continue the same formula as last year with with 2 systems.

I’ve jailbreaked mine, too... but it has disabled the ability for me to copy+paste text or images to other devices...I also think it’s a hassle, like I have to find a tweak just to change the icon size or re-arrange the grid, only to find out they’re not optimized.

I got used to the face ID (though I am still not a fan of it), but I never got used to the narrower width of the X compared to my 7 plus. I have problems typing fast. I am going to switch back to the wider phone this fall even if i is not with OLED screen.

I stayed with my X because I had no choice. My return window was closed by the time I would have liked to moved on.

I believe in the idea of Face ID, I just think the current version leaves a lot to be desired. I'm hopeful that the keynote will introduce new iPhone's with better Face ID.

All I can say here is that it makes no sense to continue to spend money on a device with a feature or features you do not like or that irritates you to use.

Loyalty to any company should not mean that you spend good money on products you hate. If there are other things about the X you like and it's just this one feature…turn it off. Use a passcode. Maybe you will hate that less, who knows.

As for jailbreaking, it's always been the case that to do "X" you need to install a tweak "Y". And right now, yes, things are not optimized because this JB for later versions of iOS and the iPhone X is fairly new. It takes time for the devs to catch up.

Jailbreaking has also been suffering from a brain drain lately. A lot of the experienced devs have left for other things and many of those who remain are trying to recreate the wheel that those previous devs already made for previous firmware versions. It isn't going so well.

I'm not saying leave Apple, but I am saying don't be blindly loyal.

There are reasons that no Mac I own is newer than 2006, reasons that I still use an iPhone 6s+.

I don't regret buying it but I'm definitely bored of the phone. Been iPhone user for 6 years. I just love the oled screen with deep blacks. I couldn't move fwd with the led screens nor go back because I prefer touch id..

I plan to go Android. Hoping the pixel 3 can sway me away from the iPhone for good.

Samsung/LG are both

Face ID works great. I just prefer Touch Id
The phone is not worth $1k and neither will the new one be next month.

I want a pixel, too. But as a MacBook and iPad Pro user, I’m concern how that’ll sync lol.

I never understand this argument, how can a tech company “force” the consumer to do anything? You have multiple options for smart phones on the market if you’re not happy with the product. They can’t make (Or force) you do anything you don’t want to do. If you don’t like Face ID, then you can still use the iPhone 8 for at least four years of iOS support or take advantage of one of the other many Suitable smart phones on the market. Its a moot point to say Apple forces anything.

Pixel will be the only one I’d switch when compared to the way all other android phones update or lack of updates I should say, even though Samsung hardware is superior to current pixel and any other android phone.

However the pixel is no iPhone competitor yet on a hardware level except for the camera. Too bad Phones today are sooooo much more utility than that, I’ll wait and see what Pixel 4 brings.

Leaked rumors of pixel 3 leave little to be desired.

Yea I regret getting the X and wish I had gotten the iPhone 8. Actually, to be honest. I would have even gotten an iPhone 7 (coming from a 6) if I had only known Apple would take an entire year to release the AirPower.

But since it’s only a month away, I’ll be downgrading to the 6.1-inch iPhone.

I have no regrets and happy they got rid of touchid. Didn't work for me. Failed all the time. Faceid is fantastic though.

I've made a iphone X mock up out of cardboard just to get a feel of the size compared to my plus, have to say I like the size, like a lot have said it feels about right, guess the things that annoy me "notch/homebar/landscape /keyboard " did at the time, and are still holding me back, question for X user's, is the oled screen that much better than say 8/8plus, it's hard to tell in YouTube videos?
