There was some things I remember from about 10 years ago, that really have been a huge impact on my Mac experience. I had a Performa 600 with 6.0.8 when I ran these:

*AtEase (somewhat resembles the now 'simplified Finder' in Mac OS X)

*Crystal Quest http://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/the_fairway/game_pages/crystal_quest.html (that link is an example of the IIgs version) OH GOD!!! I JUST SAW A VERSION FOR XBOX 360!!!!! WHATTT!!!! I'M BUYING ONE NOW!!!  http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/c/crystalquestlivearcadexbox360/

*Mad Maze (an awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome game!!!) http://pages.prodigy.net/rdbrownmsb/MadMaze2/ (a remake of it, you might need a PC to run it or the site might be down. wut a shame)

*Spell Dodger (thats how I can spell now, scool wuz no yous)

*Gizmos and Gadgets (very fun and educational game. Learned more stuff in there than i did in Physics 295)

*Shufflepuck (simple paddle and puck game but spent hours on it)

And I say goodbye to Macintosh Garden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macintosh_Garden) and give a warm felt thank you for providing ass-loads of abandonware that I once enjoyed.

Anybody feel the same way about these apps/sites or would like to add onto the memories on your classic fun application?

I have all the original install disks, manuals, and the box for a Mac IIsi. It's all for System 6.0.7 I think. Even has the tour.

That's always fun to play with!

Oh man...everybody in my school was obsessed with Crystal Quest. Must have been sixth grade...good times, good times.

Oh my God, Crystal Quest.

I was like 6 years old.

I also remember Shufflepuck and AtEase.

How about Strategic Conquest and Harpoon?

We had AtEase on our Performa 400 computer. I think my dad put a password to "protect" our ability to boot to the Finder, and then forgot what it was. Not good.

I would like to add the games Spectre Supreme and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis to this list, since I probably spent 75% of my early Mac-using time playing them.

Nostaligia

I remember my first few computers:

TRS Model III
Timex Sinclair 1000
Commodore 64

Now that makes me feel old!

My first computer was a Commodore 64 as well (hooked up to our TV). Nothing like 2 minute load times (or longer, if you used the cassette recorder).

if anyone knows where I can find a copy of Oregon Trail that will run on OSX, please do let me know.

Oregon Trail works on my Mac. I of course have 10.3. You prolly have 10.4. But I can send u a copy (since it's abandonware) and see if it works for ya.
