I'm wondering how well the high end 13" 2020 with g7 graphics can handle a single 4K display running scaled to look like 2560x1440. With the significantly improved graphics over the 8th generation I'm hoping it has a enough headroom for this setup. I've ordered a 10th Gen, but it probably won't show up for 2+ weeks.

I mostly just want to smoothly run Logic, Ableton Live, and Capture One and have everything look crisp :)

posting from my 2017 nTB 13" with its painful keyboard and poor thermals!

I am also curious about this. I use the same scaled resolution on a 4K monitor using USB-C with late 2018 13" and notice the now long in the tooth Iris Plus 655 struggle to achieve decent frame rates rendering the launchpad for example, where it looks choppy and not smooth, unlike using the display defaults. Makes me want discrete graphics again.

Thats interesting about launchpad. I'm curious about this as well as this is the resolution I run my 2018 Mac mini on with a 4K monitor. I haven't seen any issues with launchpad to my eyes, but I am curious how the 13" holds up as I have a 10th-gen on order too.

I run my 2022 10th Gen 13" with a single 4k monitor scaled to look like 2560x1440 (so, the GPU renders the desktop at 5120x2880 and downsamples to 1440p). The computer runs this absolutely fine. Now, I don't run anything really intensive... some spreadsheets, Safari with say 10-12 tabs, word processing, occasionally some lite photo editing, etc. I have not noticed any frame-rate issues to my eye. Also, the machine stays pretty cool and the fans come on, but not much above idle speed (1200-1300 rpm and are inaudible sitting at the desk).

Also, the Launchpad animation is smooth - just tested it as I rarely use that... exposé also works fine even with several apps open.
