For years now I have always owned an iPhone and a droid, I only use one at a time and switch between them. Right now I have the 14 PM and S23U. I also have an Apple watch ultra and Galaxy watch 5. I'll be honest for my phone I really prefer android, especially on the S23U which is an amazing device but for the watch there is no contest and I just love the Apple watch ultra. So checkmate!

The thing is though most of the things I use my watch for do not really need a phone. Fitness tracking and tap to pay are my two most used features and the Apple watch extends tap to pay to include loyalty cards and tickets too, Google wallet on wearOS is really limited. Notifications and music control are nice to haves but not essential.

So I often use my droid phone and my Apple watch, no idea if there is a threshold as to how long you can go without connecting to the phone before things stop working but it is almost the best of both worlds with no borg to be seen anywhere.

First world problems I know but curious as to how many others use an apple watch without an iPhone?

AW requires an iPhone to be paired with to function, to answer the title ...
there have been multiple threads re cellular AW functionality without carrying the iPhone, suggest to search for that
