Has anyone signed up and canceled service with AT&T after 30 days yet?

I am curious on the fees they charge beyond the ETF, and if there's any demand from AT&T to return the phone.

I already know about the pro-rated fee, ETF, taxes and so forth. I am more curious if there's anything else beyond expectation.

at&t will charge the prorated termination fee and a prorated charge for that month's service depending on when your billing cycle ended.

I do not understand why this thread exists either, if you already knew

I understand your question was meant to ask if there was any additional fees or demands beyond the normal ETF. However, it was ambiguous because you simply asked what fees they charge to cancel a contract beyond 30 days. Someone answering $175 (or $170) seems reasonable to me. I too would be interested if they try to nickel and dime people.

God...I am developing a headache.

I am asking for someone to share actual experience from their statement...

Ubersalad, why are you always so offensive and rude to people? I have yet to find a thread where you add anything to the conversation other than rude remarks.
In my defense, I have offered some decent remarks...

I'll tone it down.

like I said. $175 and i'm keeping my phone. if you still don't like the answer, try it yourself :D:D

ACTUAL experience, actual! I read the damn contract that's why I know it's $170.
I think you need to re-read the contract. It is $175 if you cancel before the first full monthly billing cycle. Your first billing is for a partial month, your next month and if you have not received that bill by the time you cancel you will need to pay the total amount of the bill. The last month's bill is not pro-rated for any unused days.

Note: The pro-rated ETF does not start from day one. Here is the quote for the Contract Terms.

For service activated on or after May 25, 2008 the Early Termination Fee will be reduced by $5.00 for each full month toward your minimum term that you complete.

You will also pay any service fees and taxes. If you are thinking there are some additional hidden charges, there are none. The rumors about people having to pay the difference between the subsidized price and the "No Commitment" price are just Internet rumors.

ok, let me elaborate more on my experience
purchased the phone on july 11, cancelled my contract on august 12th.
paid my monthly charges, about $95.
received a bill for cancellation fees total of $185.90
$175 ETF
$3.90 one day prorated.
I keep the phone

hope that helps.

so without at&t service, does the iphone function pretty much like an itouch?

yeah, jailbreak, unlock(as soon as it's possible) and then it will go on craigslist/eBay.
That will pay for all fees

ok I just cancelled mine, I was right at the 30 day mark so they said I was within buyers remorse period so no fee to cancel. I asked if I would have to pay any other fees or for the phone and they said no that was it. Should I worry, can they charge me afterwards cuz phone not returned?
