In a van down by the river
I am curious if after buying your first watch or upgrading to the latest model, your purchase led you to find any new watch apps that you have enjoyed using. If you have found some good watch apps, start a list. This will certainly be of help to new watch owners.

Great idea. I really only have the stock apps installed except for those added by BuddyWatch to complete some faces I downloaded.

CARROT Weather
Waterminder (bottom left)
Healthface (top sub dial, top text, and bottom right)

One that I find nice to have at my fingertips is Authy. It uses the same algorithm as Google Authenticator to generate 2 Factor Authentication tokens. I use Google Authenticator tokens for my 2FA on any of my accounts that support it which, rather surprisingly to me, actually includes the Uk HMRC personal tax filing system which is nice...

I also like XE Currency...

The other third party apps that I have installed are Uber which I haven't actually used yet so can't comment on that and the final one is the Philips Hue app which for me is totally and utterly useless. I've managed to get it working twice but most of the time it just says unable to connect to hub so I can't control any of my lights reliably with it which is a shame because that would be quite convenient functionality to have on my wrist all the time...

Battery Grapher -- Tracks your watch battery and gives good estimates when you'll run out
Better Day -- Simple Date/Calendar that gives move options for the tap-through calendar.
Carrot Weather -- Sarcastic weather forecasts
Duo Mobile -- 2nd Factor authentication, no complication
Geneva Moon -- Pure watch app that gives a realistic view of tonights moon phase
PCalc -- Venerable calculator app on your watch
Pedometer++ -- Step counter, don't really use it any more but here for nostalgia
Sleep++ -- Better sleep tracking than Apple's built in on watchOS 7
Watchsmith -- General purpose complication builder, lots of flexibility on new complications.

FYI - all the apps listed above are not specific to series 6. They will also work on series 3, 4, & 5.

Are you looking for apps that are especially suited to the Series 6 (per thread title), or just in general are good apps for any Apple Watch? Maybe clarify in your original post.

There aren't any Series 6 specific apps that I'm aware of. I doubt Apple would even let you put something like that on the App Store.

WorkOutDoors
"the only Apple Watch workout app showing fully functional vector maps."
Amazing
Yeah +1 for WorkOutDoors.

Perfect for going for an impromptu walk in an unfamiliar state park. Every time I look down at my watch it shows me where I am on the trail, where I've been, and where the trail's going. Zooming in/out on the map is effortless.

I love it. It does exactly what I need, when I need it. My phone stays in my pocket.

For those who workout and or keep close tabs on your health via Apple Health, I highly recommend WHealth. It has a great watch app and the developer is working on a widget as well. It works great as a supplement to “WorkOutDoors.” The developer is also an active member.

OP asked about Series 6 apps. You did not list any. I made a clarification. You are welcome.
When?

There is no such thing as a Series 6 only app. And the OP just asked for apps that might be good for a new Series 6 owner. Read it again.

Does Authy have the following:
1. Apple Watch notifications if you need to authorize an account or do you have to manually go to the Authy watch app to look up the 2FA code?
2. If notification is available, rather than having to type in the 2FA code, does the Authy watch app allow one touch authentication from the notification?

I never access a 2FA account from the same device that I am running Authy on so I always launch the app on my iPhone or my watch and type the code into whatever web site it is that I'm logging on to. I've certainly never seen a notification from Authy but then because of the way I use it I wouldn't expect to. Maybe that feature is there but if it is then I don't know about it. I think LaspPass might have that feature. I do use LastPass but I prefer to keep my passwords and my 2FA generation in separate apps so I'm afraid I haven't used that bit of LastPass either. (LastPass does have an Apple Watch app too.

Authy does not offer notification. You have to manually open the app to get the code.

1) Phone Buddy- Alerts you when you leave your phone (or watch if you took it off to charge) behind. Will open a map with directions on the watch showing where you last left the phone. The alert is an annoying sound that you won’t miss and volume is controllable. Will not alert when your on your home WiFi. Also gives you phone and watch stats and has a complication that lets you know if the feature is on or off at a glance.
2) ETA- Gives you ETA’s to specific locations you select on one page (home, work, gym, whatever you need) and let’s you know if there’s a traffic delay. You can select to navigate to the location right from the app.
3 and 4) HomeCam and HomePass- Great app for HomeKit users. Get all your cameras streams in one app without the fuss and all your HomeKit codes. Excellent for setting up devices and need the code when your phone isn’t on you.
5) LastPass- Not really watch specific but their watch app is excellent. You can search all your saved passwords/documents/files/info on your wrist by logging in with a PIN. No need to add specific ones to favorites.
6) iTranslate Converse- Converse in different languages using your watch. Wish Apple added something like this with the new Translate app. Much more fluid than asking Siri for translations.

Thanks Guys. I've been using Authy for a week or so now and I like it so far. No notifications like you guys mentioned, but at least it has a functional Watch app in comparison with Microsoft Authenticator.

Just one: WeatherMate Pro - it's the only Weather App I've been able to find that had the 2 things I need: 1: it provides the humidity (because for some reason, that's IMPOSSIBLE to include) and 2) isn't a subscription service. It can sometimes take a minute to update all three screens, but it's what I've been needing in a Weather app.

The question should have been:
since watchOS 7 allows different complications from one app for the SAME slot which apps have you discovered?
I´m using two: Watchsmith and Lumy.
