I currently have Verizon and even with all the issues I’m considering switching to AT&T and getting a fold in addition to the iPhone I have.
Anyone considering buying a Galaxy Fold?

Not really i hate something that folds. Getting Note10 next few days and planning to keep it for over 5 years.
My 13 years old Toshiba Notebook just died this morning (hard disk) so my tech budget will be allocated for new one.
Everybody chickened out. Even the youtubers who were praising foldable phones to no end are silent now. It's an unproven tech, and paying such premium price for a plastic screen is a huge step back imo.

Nobody should. It's not like one little part was failing and they fixed it. Basically the entire design is flawed. They didn't just delay a few months and re engineer the device. This thing will still fail at an insanely high rate and will still cost $2k.
Personally I have no interest in folding phones, but if I did, I would never consider one that folds with the folding screen on the outside. Because of the nature of those screens, they won't have extra durable gorilla glass. Instead they'll be plastic oleds that will be extremely succeptable to scratches and damage.

If you even have the least bit interest after all the issues, I'd say go for it. I was thinking of getting the Fold on release, but I pre-ordered two Note 10+, so that'll have to hold me off for 2 years. At that time I'm definitely going Fold. After trying my first Samsung device (a used S7 Edge), just a few months back, I will never listen to the opinions of people that discourage me from getting something they don't approve of. Just one read with some of the posters and you can clearly see some have their own agenda. Not speaking of anyone specifically. It is what it is. So go ahead and give it a go, worst case scenario, you return it. No biggie, but at least it's your own decision based on your actual use. Nobody can fault that.

I would think this model has a bunch of patchwork fixes for the problems discovered in reviews. I would expect major revisions in the next model that are preventative.
It’s a plastic screen, what do you expect?
We have gorilla glass, like what, 6 now? And people want to go back to much less durable plastic screen just because “oh it’s foldable.” Quite hilarious.

Best case scenario its still poorly designed but it holds up and you get a phone that functions but has a scratched up screen after a few months.
Worst case, craps out quickly like the review units and you just donated 2k to Samsung.
Hard pass for me.

I was paying $650 for a high-end iPhone a few years ago. Now the top-notch device will cost me some $2,000. When is that going to end?
The Galaxy Fold does not feel necessary nor practical. The concept of a foldable device only seems attractive to me to have a larger device to read on the go, while still being able to use it with one hand as a phone. While the concept is nice, I am yet to see an implementation that works in practice.
I am skeptical about it for now.
For a device that should be practical for day-to-day use, I will wait until it gets a decent and proven implementation and costs some $500 or lower (so I am not afraid of using it extensively and even dropping it sometimes, instead of treating it like a piece of jewelry).

If I were to ignore the price tag for a moment and assume I had $2K to spend on a phone I doubt I would buy a folding phone in this implementation at least. The reason more than anything is that the idea, at least for me, in having such a thing would be to be able to do away with having a tablet with me and the screen doesn't open out to anywhere near the size, nor aspect ratio, that would enable that. Maybe if it were a tri-fold design that would open out to something near a 16:10 aspect I would give it a good look but even then having that extra fold would mean even more thickness.
On top of that I haven't been the most careful with my current phone and I feel its because its significantly bigger than what I've been used to. I've busted/cracked the clear silicon case for my S10 in 3 distinct places and I actually need a new one. None of my iPhones that preceded it saw any such drops. I'm pretty careful with my devices and I'm quite surprised is how often the S10 has landed on the floor. So durability is going to be even more important with the Fold being bigger again and I don't think anyone is going to argue its lack of durability.

That's the major reason for me. Aside from being on the bleeding edge, in the most literal sense, its really the cost. I chafe at spending a grand for a smartphone, never mind 2,000.

Yeah but if you're able to drop the need for buying a tablet in the process the plus also dropping the need to be buying any wireless (and wireless charging) headphones in the one swoop the $2K doesn't look so much. $2K - price of a tablet - price of wireless headphones < price of an iPhone.

Far too early to be spending that much on a new product like this. Just my opinion of course so I hope those who do buy one enjoy it.
Why not just get the real tablet in that case instead of getting a wannabe phone/tablet?
