I'm curious as to how well it can take a fall.

That's like askin if anyone in here jumped out of an airplane over the weekend to test a new kind of parachute... LOL j/k

These things are hopefully never put to the test, although, it seems inevitable...

I dropped my IS covered iPhone 3G. Is that close enough? I dropped it at Wal-Mart. On the way down, the bottom of the phone, right where the IS ends, hit a shelf so it peeled back a tiny bit and got a little scratch that is about 2mm long (it's unnoticeable unless you know exactly where it is and you are looking for it). After the fall though, it bounced around and slid across the linoleum floors. Besides the scratch sustained on the way down, there wasn't any other damage. IS and BG are very tough.
