Just got my macbook yesterday and I'm loving it...had to return it once cuz of a really crooked f7 key...Apple even gave me a free incase sleeve for my trouble (GREAT customer service)

I do find though I'm afraid my watch might scratch the beautiful aluminum, so I find myself taking it off...anyone else do this?

Maybe I shuold stop wearing metal wristwatches ;)

yeah I know what you mean. I used to be like that when I got my macbook but then I don't know I stopped worrying about it and it never scratched or anything. Then again mine is the plastic one not aluminum one.

Hi,yes I'm developing a same type of phobia here because I experienced that wearing a ring or bracelet scratches against the aluminum when I type or carry. It doesn't really make the scratch on the aluminum but it just feels like it might scratch it everytime it makes the sound scratching sound.

yeah that metal on metal scratching sound is really really annoying

I don't wear a watch when using mine; it's as much a comfort thing as not wanting the watch or computer to get scraped. I don't wear one when I'm typing on the normal keyboard when at my desk, either.

If the new MB holds up anything like my 2+ year old MBP, it'll wear find. I used it daily and never took my watches off. I mostly wear a metal band or leather band with a large metal clasp.

No major scratches or wear spots.

I have an MBA with a similar finish and I never remove my watch to use it. No scratching problems here -- although my wristband is mostly rubber, there are some metal parts to it.

i felt a bit uneasy with the watch at first but i got this laptop to work for me, not stare at and worship.

wait, i cant worship it? :(

damn false idols

for me its my wedding ring im paranoid about, ive heard it scuff once or twice and immediately examined the area for blemishes. Luckily none as yet.

I do wear a watch but i dont appear to carry my mb in a way where my watch would rub, its a steel strapped watch to so anywhere on it could scuff, at least with a leather strap you have some 60ish % of leather you could hit.

Edit, DUH only just realise yer watch when your using mb could collide with the edge. I was basing on a not using my mb scenario.

haha this is so funny.. cuz i think everyone goes through this. i have the mareware protection pack and it helps, but i still take my watch off when i use my mbp.

Yes take your watch off! My uncle used my MacBook Pro once last year with his watches on and scratched it all up....I managed to get a free replacement case out of it so its perfect again but still....try to avoid that if you can. The aluminum isnt THAT durable.

With my last new car I was afraid to scratch it. I could not do without my mobile phone, wedding ring, jacket zippers, money clip and belt buckle so I simply decided to never drive it.

:D

Bring back Ti. For that matter, skip Aluminum and Ti then go straight to magnesium and carbon fiber. Yummy.

I take mine off.

And then I have to worry about dropping or losing my watch.
