I applied for the Server 4 (Yosemite) upgrade through the Apple Up-to-Date program but was denied on the grounds that "the receipt you submitted does not show the purchase of a qualifying product" even though I purchased a refurbished Mac Mini Server from the Apple Online Store. The webpage clearly states that this purchase does qualify for the upgrade, so I contacted Apple Support who said I was correct and that it was likely an oversight but said I had to reply to the denial by the Apple Up-to-Date program. I replied and am still waiting for a response from Apple.

Has anyone else purchased a refurbished Mac Mini Server and successfully applied to the Up-to-Date program for OS X Server?

Thankfully, Apple reversed its decision and granted me the update to Server 4. I plan to experiment with it on a separate drive for now, while running Mavericks.
