After the excitement of actually getting my hands on my new iPhone I had the job of cutting my t mobile sim to fit it. Simple, I thought.

I'd watched lots of videos on line been out to get a micro sim for a template and started. Seemed easy enough. All fit great. Put sim in phone and nothing!!!! I don't get it. It fits in the tray fine :( but for some reason the phone dosent see it.

Now I have to wait till July to use my phone, when t mobile will be getting micro sims

Frustration.

How amazing does the screen look though?

Ahhhhhhhh

Think i read somewhere on here that the person had to bend the sim a little for it to make full contact.

I had issues but fixed them with further trimming, the issue I had was my contract SIM had a much bigger contact area than the PAYG one.

I basically cut it and I had the same issue as you, I thought i'd fcked up so called t mobile and asked for a replacement sim. In the meantime I trimmed it slightly further and it started working. But it was too late to cancel the replacement SIM. T Mobile have said I should get another one tomorrow, so will see how it goes. If it is like the PAYG ones they sent me last week it should be easy.

That's just it i didn't cut any of the metal at all. ahhhhhhhhhh...i've given up now, i don't think i could make it fit any better if i tried again :(

it looks to me your sim is off centre as opposed to the o2 one, it doesn't look right mate. the left side is fine its the top and bottom

yeah it looks like you cut too much off the top and not enough on the bottom.

or the other way around. haha I can't tell which one you cut and which one is right. they aren't the same though.

+1 more, you did a great job with the shape, but the contacts aren't in the correct place.

I cut my IP3 sim and it seems to work great!

It's an ATT sim and after trimming just stuck it in and jacked into itunes and its humming right along!

The cut one looks bigger, and the contacts are CLEARLY not in the right place.

Time to order a new sim and try again.

ahahaha...thanx guys i think this sim cutting isn't for me, well maybe another go :D

Were you using a 3G or 3GS iPhone? The reason I ask is that I want to do the same with an iP4 that's sitting at home and hope I can do the same thing.

3GS but dosn't matter what phone sim came from, just make sure you don't cut too much off the top like me :p
