Anyone else disappointed about the lack of hardware battery indicator?

The button on the bottom left corner of the Macbook Pros isn't on the RMBP. It was really useful for checking the battery level without having to load the OS up and check via software.

Anyone know why it was removed? Was I part of the 1% of people that used it? To me it seemed like everybody used that feature.
