I have two MBP 2.53Ghz, and both of them seem to play a little "funny" with external displays.

The first MBP is connected to my 23" Apple Display. The second is connected to a Samsung 24" 245BW.

Every so often, I'll get some odd graphical weirdness - like static and flickering on the external screen. I can fix it by unplugging the DisplayPort plug or changing the resolution to something else, and then back again to native res. This only seems to happen after the display has gone to sleep (system still on), and then I bring the display out of sleep.

So again, two different MBPs with two different DisplayPort -> DVI adapters and two different external monitors.

Just.... very odd.

Am I alone in this issue?

Apple released a software update for external displays on launch day for the new laptops. That's not a good sign to begin with. ;)

I've read quite a few posts here and it's a continuing issue.

I have a ton of problems with this on my early 08 mac book as well using a normal dvi connector. Apple Care says nothing is wrong. /sigh
