Very disappointed..got a small scratch on screen already. I’ve never dropped or put phone and keys in same pocket because I seen mkbhd review that it scratches easily

No I haven’t. I put a tempered glass screen protector on my 12 the moment the white film came off the screen so it’s been protected since the first few minutes I opened the box.

Some would say what I did was completely unnecessary but it’s nobody else’s business but mine.
Lol you're unbelievable. Is the OP your alternate? I'm almost positive.

I do the same thing. Well worth it in my opinion.

Grit in the pocket can definitely cause scratches

Why is Real-Deal unbelievable? Seriously why. I do the same thing as well as a whole lot of people. I'd rather not take the chance that my expensive phone get a scratch. I'd rather it be a couple dollar piece of glass.

Nothing unbelievable about what I said, just sharing what I did with my iPhone for reference. If you think myself and the OP are the same person then please report us to the mods. They can look into anything from dual accounts to banned posters rejoining under new names. It’s worth putting in a report if you feel that way.

One man’s “completely unnecessary” is another man’s “this phone is a scratch magnet and I don’t want scratches.” 😋

Absolutely, it’s never a one size fits all and nobody can preach to anybody else whether they should use a screen protector or not. All I know is my iPhone would be trashed by now if I didn’t have one on. I put my phone down in some quite harsh environments and I have children who like to run off with it and drop it all over the house. No way I’d go without one.

I use a screen protector (I'm not a big fan) that covers all the screen, including the notch, and is like having nothing ...

Give it a try!
Can you recommend me the name of your full screen protector?

I got the Belkin one installed by Apple but while it is nice, it doesn’t cover the entire screen and dust gets trapped at the edges and looks terrible sometimes.

I ordered a cheap full–coverage protector (with a thin black outline and rounded edges) from eBay—basically the same thing I’ve been using on my 6S for years. When it arrives, I’ll post my impressions in the ‘Which Screen Protector’ thread on the Accessories Sub-Forum.

I always go for the full coverage versions ‘cuz I hate dealing with the crud that accumulates around the edges of the Belkin-style ones. As a rule of thumb, though, 90% of the time the cheap ones are just as good as the so-called name brand protectors and cost a fraction of the price.

Yes, please post it. And agreed - not only does that crud accumulate, but it the fact the protector doesn’t cover the entire screen just looks bad.

It’s like you have an extra border on the screen for no reason.

Pics, or it didn't happen. Not questioning you.. I just am curious to see how "bad" these scratches are.

Yes, I bought this:

It has a green border on the photos but the protector I received has nothing.

Same! Peace of mind at the cost of adding a thin layer on the screen. Not a big deal.

I’ve installed 4 of the ESR protectors on 4 iPhone 12(Pro)’s with no issues. The protector looks and feels great. Everyone in my family likes them.

I have never used a protector. I am not hard on phones and never had a scratch issue in 11 years of Apple phones. Having said that,. maybe i have just been lucky. No doubt if i did scratch the screen then my thoughts and mindset would change and i would probably slap a protector on every phone I get from then on but until then.......

Good to hear. I got a pack of these for my wife's inbound Pro Max. Since it is a 3 pack, if I like how it looks/feels I may put one on mine as well. I've never used a screen protector, but the wife likes them now so...

Apple advertises that the screen is more resistant to cracks with that ceramic glass.

here’s a simple physics lesson...

harder surfaces crack easily but do not scratch easily.

softer surfaces are less likely to crack. But because they’re softer, can scratch.

It was inevitable that the less-chance-of-cracking screen would also be a more-likely-to-scratch screen.

So pick your poison I guess?
