Anyone else have issues with the camera lens getting scratched?

This is the photo the genius took to check out the problem.

I ended up getting the whole back replaced for $29 which actually wasn't too bad but i've had a bumper on my phone since i bought it so i dont see how it could have got this bad. Would an actual case help at all? The camera is still exposed so I'm not sure it would make much of a difference.

Did you get this done at an Apple store? I didn't have a cover for the first few weeks and my lens got scratched badly too.
