Then spent the next 1:30 trying to get AT&T billing mess straightened out.
Last month I combined my cell and landline. Both bills are automatically paid through my Amex. However my wireless showed past due. Online my account stated billed to my credit card on Jun 29th AND past due. Tried to pay outstanding balance online while in the store so that I could purchase phone, but AT&T system wouldn't allow me.
AT&T customer service was CLOSED on Sunday. What rocket scientist decided not to open the call center on perhaps one of the busiest weekends?
I could not resolve the issue. Left store after 3 hours without phone. Apple store is holding the phone for me and gave me a pass to get in the store without having to wait in line.
Lesson learned: 1) NEVER bundle phone accounts again. 2) Cancel ALL AT&T landline service; get internet service through cable company.
