It started the day before, and after working fine throughout the day, Messages will suddenly stop retrieving messages and fail to deliver new message. If I quit the app and relaunch, it asks for my login, which always fails to recognize the username/password even after carefully verifying everything inputted is correct.

This appears to be an Apple server issue as I just booted into my High Sierra volume and I'm getting the same error messages.

But my 2012 MacBook Pro with Catalina is running Messages just fine, and the same goes with my 2012 cMP running Catalina.

From this, I'm gathering that Apple closed access to the Messages server from certain versions of OS X.

Messages in Mojave has gotten so flaky that I’ve given up even trying to get messages to sync with my iPhone :)

It’s another example of how Apple has lost the plot. I’m getting tired of being told that things that used to work just fine, now require “upgrading” to a less stable version of the OS. But hey it has lots more emojis.

On the Apple community forums, someone suggested PRAM reset; that did the trick, and I was also finally able to successfully install Security Developer Beta 18G6006
