Picked up the new Apple TV last week and I'm running into an issue with the Apple TV forgetting it's CEC settings. I'm referring to the settings, "Control TVs and Receivers" and "Volume control"...I set those, and everything works fine...Can control the volume of my sound bar and the power switch on the Apple remote will power off, both the sound bar and TV. But, once I power off and come back later, and press the the power button on the Apple TV remote, the Apple TV will power on but nothing else will.

I go back into those two settings and Control TVs and Receivers is set to off, and pressing the volume keys on the remote, I get "Do you want to setup volume control now" screen, which does nothing...If I select Control TVs and Receivers, it stays on Off...Can't change it. I have to restart the Apple TV, then everything starts working again. It seems like once I do the restart, everything will work the rest of the day...Can Power everything off and on and Volume control work all day long. But once I power off and let it sit overnight...The next morning, only the Apple TV will power on and I'm back to where I started...Do a restart on the Apple TV and everything starts working again...

Any Ideas?

I am having the exact same problem and am watching this thread. I originally had an hdmi cable problem that sent me into a boot loop after an overnight sit, but that has been corrected by replacing the hdmi from the ATV to my Nakamichi soundbar. I have a couple of Ultra hdmi cables coming to see if that corrects it. I will update with those results.

I'd check your HDMI cable, unplug both ends and replug to make sure they've got a solid connection.

If you still have issues, try swapping out for a new cable.

a power cycle the aTV and TV probably wouldn't hurt either.

It sounds like the handshake that happens to let the aTV know the TV supports CEC is not being handled properly.

I think there are a few bugs that need ironing out; Ive found that asking the HomePods to play music turns on the tv/ATV now, also that my tv reports sound subsystem errors when I’m watching broadcast tv…
