I have an Alpine CDA-105 (yes I know its old now but i'm not too keen on buying a new one just yet) with iPhone 5 and the redesign of how albums are arranged in iOS7's music app seems to be causing a bit of confusion between the two. Notably neither one now reliably remembers what song was last playing on either the phone or car stereo. Previously, if I paused something on my phone, the phone would override the radio and continue where I left off. Also, if i was playing something in my car and got out and back in, the music would play from its last position. Now, in any case it just goes from the top of my Songs list. Minor i know but annoying when its something that's worked in every iOS revison till now and I'm not liking the possibility of a head unit upgrade nearly every revision. Especially if i ever intend to buy a new car with built in iphone control.
One other issue that's a bit more problematic is that if I'm on a call and switch to speaker and plug in my phone for the car ride, music beings playing in the same speaker as the call yet the music app itself is closed and the play controls on the stereo stop responding so i cant stop the music without killing the call. Again, simple issue but something that hasnt been an issue until they went and fiddled with the music app under the hood.
I'm sure the solution will ultimately be to get a newer stereo because there's only so much you can do for backwards compatibility but its a worrying thing when a pretty much required yearly OS update can break compatibility car stereo functions that are becoming increasingly standard on all cars.
