Is it just me or did anyone else really like the plastic back?

Just think, if they kept that design, with the advancements in the internals, how high performing the iPhone could be now :p

Wild and strange idea, but what's your take on it?

I enjoyed the design at the time. It was very comfortable to hold. I didn't like how it would rock back and forth when you set it down on a table though.

Going back to that design now would be a step back. After iPhone 4, there's no going back to plastic for the flagship iPhone.

I do. As has been said, it was very comfortable in the hand.

The upcoming 5C could be fairly similar in feel. I know it's not going to have the same curvature but the same material and finish could be being used.

I think the designs after the 3G/3GS have been much better. I don't miss it at all.

My first iPhone was the 4, but I have to agree just based on the times I played on a friend's 3GS. I think the metal/glass designs look and feel better.

The 3GS is still the best iPhone to date, in my opinion.

Especially the white one, drools.

3G is too bulky now, in my opinion. Not to be biased, but out of all the designs I actually still like the look of the 4/4S, especially in white.

Might upgrade to 5S, but I will miss my 4S if I do. And if I go for the 5S I'm switching to black.

I don't mind the design and the plastic, but with the curves it does tend to slip out of the hand quite easily.

Although the 3GS was a much better design than the iPhone 4/4S and iPod Touch which both would suffer cracked screens at the slightetst drop because of the glass going to the edge of the device and (at least in the case of the iPhone 4/4S) were harder-edged and less comfortable to hold as well.

i still use mine, havent upgraded yet :)

not sure I like the form factor of the 5, seems very thin and girly.

I would agree. Loved that phone. I liked the black face with the white shell. It will be interesting to see the iPhone 5C. I might consider that one if it has all the features I use.

I prefer the thicker phone, felt more natural in my hand. It doesn't have to be as curved as that but it was still nice.

I miss the solid feel and curvature every time I pick up my pop's 3GS. Never been a fan of the 4/4S/5 ergonomics, but yet, I stay. Truthfully, the 1st-gen design is still a marvel IMHO. Looks so great to this day. If they cut down on the size and weight and elongate it for 4" retina...all of the feels...!

Nope I like the iPhone 5 design looks elegant
I have to agree. I have the 3GS and the 5. Although I didn't get the 3GS until recently and it was never used as my primary phone I consider the design to be far superior to the 4/4S. But while cool, I much prefer my iPhone 5.

Everyone has their favorite, but for me the i5 feels solid and "right" in my hand. The 3GS, again, is great, but it's not my iPhone 5.
