I have a slightly older than 1 year old pioneer car head unit with the front connecting USB connector that plugs into the iPhone. It worked like a charm with the 3G. The head unit will still charge the iPhone, but doesn't allow any if the songs to be viewed or played.

Anyone confirm or deny similar issues?

This happened to me this morning but I didn't put much thought into it.

have a stock head unit on my 09 kia optima, the i4 actually works way better than my 3g did, its plug and play, whereas with my 3g, you had to go in and start to ipod and mess with stuff to get it to work....was a pleasant surprise....

Well, it will be a bummer if there is no fix. I doubt there will be. Maybe I can update my pioneer firmware...
