TL;DR:
Email stopped working today on all my apple machines.
Message asks me to provide the password for my account, but does not accept it.
I'm using iCloud, but via IMAP.
Am I alone?

Longer:

Background: I have set up my business email with iCloud, which up until pretty much now meant I had to use IMAP.

That works fine. Has worked fine. For years.
And then today, from out of the blue, mail.app on my Mac fired up a dialog saying it "can't connect to [name of my account]", and a blank input area below.
At the same time, trying to access my email on my phone instead, gives me a similar error at the bottom of the screen, which if clicked launches a dialog saying "Email cannot be retrieved" because "no password has been set for [the name of my account]"

So. Have I set a password? Yes I have, and it's been my business mail for years.
Also, if I click through to settings on the iPhone, the password is pre-filled with a bunch of dots. So there.

I've tried generating a new app-specific password from the apple-ID site, but even as I enter it an click OK, I'm told I haven't provided a password. Which is bonkers. (Funny enough, the email app tells me in fine print at the bottom that the mailbox was last updated in September of 2020. Which is odd since it contains email from up to about 4pm this afternoon, CET.)

Calling the Swedish Apple support gave me nothing I couldn't find myself — they could only see the same system status website that we all can, and on it there are nothing but green dots everywhere.

So:

Is anyone else experiencing this right now (since around 4pm CET or 10am EST)?
Or does anyone have a solution to this?

Any help appreciated!
