My shipping status so far:

Louisville, KY, United States 09/23/2013 8:46 P.M. Departure Scan
09/23/2013 2:29 P.M. Origin Scan
United States 09/21/2013 5:04 A.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS

Hasn't been updated since. Hopefully those caught in the derailment are okay though!

Does anyone know how long, on average, an order is delayed due to a derailment?

2 years . lmao I actually dont know how long it will be delayed.

I looked up the incident earlier, hopefully those people are alright. At least is wasnt a ton of people.
Already did, they simply said they were delayed.
The article says 2 where critically injured, hope that they are ok indeed.

Still sucks to be in your situation too though, let's hope your 5s survived this too..

Probably no one can predict how long this will take, did you try calling UPS ?

Not yet. What i don't understand is, how did they know that MY shipment specifically was caught in the derailment? That implies to me that they already found all the shipments involved in the incident and brought them to another UPS facility.

I would expect them to know which package is on which route at all times, so they should have a list ready of all packages on that train.

I would give them a call, maybe they'll give you an estimate.

Good luck anyway :)

I hope so, thank you!

The shipping companies know exactly what train/truck/aircraft your package is on at all times, and likely have GPS tracking on said vehicles. If an accident like this happens, ally they have to do is pull it up in the computer, change he status and it automatically updates all assigned packages.

Yes mine is in that mess also. Turns out it's a 30 car derailment, so this may take some time. I'm trying to stay positive, but UPS says contact Tmobil and Tmobil says contact UPS. Guess only time will tell....

Looking into this a little further it sounds like maybe the car with our phones didn't derail, just waiting for the others to be cleared so the can keep rolling, FINGERS CROSSED!!!
