When I connect my phone to charge, my phone will occasionally require a passcode as if the device was restarted.

It could be when your phone attempts to unlock using face ID multiple times and fails (due to face being away or not properly aligned) it disables the face ID and requires the pass code to unlock. Otherwise haven’t faced this issue on my 12 Pro Max or X.

My iPad 7 gen does that but my 12 Pro Max never does it. Everytime I charge my iPad it requires that I put in my passcode, as it will not accept my finger ID. All I can think of is that it is a software glitch. My 12 Pro Max only requires my passcode if I am wearing a mask or after a hard reset. Never after charging.

Hmmm. Thanks for the replies. I was thinking that Face ID was trying to recognize the scan and it failing. Therefore, it would require the passcode. I’ll have to pay attention to see if it exhibits this behavior only when I charge it. Right now, that seems to be the case.

In settings/ faceid & passcode under allow access when locked do you have usb disabled? If you do, it might solve your problem if you allow usb access when locked

Ahhhh, yes it was indeed not selected. I’ll switch it to “on” and see if it solves the issue. Thanks!
