Anyone ever back up an iphone (4s) and all the apps dont back up?

Anyone ever back up an iphone (4s) and all the apps dont back up?
I backed up my iphone to my mac, and restored my phone as new then restored from my back up, and when it was finished half my apps were not on the phone. The weird thing is I did synch my phone before backing up and all my apps were in itunes but after the phone was done updating from being restored half my apps were not there.

I had to go back into the app store and redownload them.

Has anyone had this happen before

I find my iTunes has a mind of its own sometimes doing things like that. Mysterious unticking of boxes of things to sync.

Its not really a big deal gave me reason to not redownload apps I never use anyways but i just found it odd.
