after working on a project i started while reading this thread i realized i needed a web site to post version 1.0 to. a while ago i started redoing my site with html and css which was new to me. well now i'm on my 3rd complete re-write while there still remains a "coming soon" to my site.

i wrote the site using mysql, Perl, apache, xhtml, & css all while hosting it on my PowerBook. now i'm trying to set it all up onto my free 1&1 hosting that i aquired when they were giving it away. well the script runs fine from the shell (on there servers) but when i try to get there from a web browser it gives me a fabulous 500 error. i have the permissions set right (755) but it acts like there's some sort of error. what's even more fun is that if i run it from the shell and copy the output to a test.html file it displays perfectly fine and completely validates the xhtml and css with no errors.

here's the url to the non working cgi: http://s94253843.onlinehome.us/cgi-bin/index.pl

and here's the output of the cgi put into an html file: http://s94253843.onlinehome.us/test.html

i wrote 1&1 earlier today but they have yet to get back to me... anyonw else have any similar problems?
