I'm currently in the UK at the moment and I'll be here until the fall. I know that some stores participate in the VAT refund program. I definitely want my 20% VAT back when I leave the UK. I'm a little confused on whether I'll get all 20% back or I'll get a partial refund? The Apple Store on Regent Street in London said I'll get back around 11% while the Apple Store in Leicester's Highcross Shopping Centre said I'll get back the full 20%. So which one is which? Does anyone here have any experiences to share?

Have you visited the HMRC website?

You may not get all the VAT back. The retailer and/or the refund company may make a charge to cover the cost of handling your form. If they do, this will be deducted from your refund before you receive it

A lot more detail Here

Whilst VAT is 20% (atm), the actual amount will be much lower after accounting for administration fees and the like.

You can expect around 10-13% back. Not insignificant!

Thanks for the information guys, but I want to get some first hand experience from people who have wet through this process before. I'm looking for more details.
