I don't usually use pandora with my ip6 on 8.1 but did a couple of days ago and thought t was a fluke but happened again today.
With 1 hour of streaming pandora on 4g in decent cell coverage (4 bars) I went through 30% battery and my phone was hot.
Last night I restored to 8.1 fresh then restored to a back up I had a week ago.
May be worth trying not I restore from new and just leaving it new.
I've had some quicker than normal battery loss than with my ip5 on iOS 8.1 in the past so that's why I tried the restore last night on my ip6. It wast 30% in 1 hr but still ran the phone dead before the end of the day when my ip5 would last through the night with 20% left. (Same usage patterns, the 'my ip6 is new and I have to use it every second' wore off and it's back to normal lol)

Maybe a little high on battery drain, but not too bad, imo.

Went for a walk to drop off my mail-in ballot at the voter service center yesterday. Streaming audio via TuneIn, GPS on to track time/distance, disabled wi-fi since was not going to be using it, no Bluetooth, returned home with 13% battery used in 40 minutes.

Display on? And bright? That screen will chew up more battery than previous screens. Streaming via Bluetooth?

Nope, display off, and using aux cord.
Pretty weird.
I deleted the app and re downloaded. Will try another test later on my drive home.

Happens to me as well. Also my phone runs crazy hot when I stream pandora. Phones also lags.

I have been doing a good bit of research around some of these issues.

did you restore your phone from a backup or did you set up as new?
iphone 6 or 6+?
Data signal strong? LTE or 4g?

I found that i had more of an issue from my phone being restored from a back up than i did when it was set up as a new phone. I am actually going to start from scratch and let go of my old stuff seems to be taxing the heck out of my phone ...

I first restored as new then immediately restored to backup.

iPhone 6

Strong 4g signal with lte disabled. (I have a problem with lte and pandora, and always have really even with my 3 prior iPhone 5's where there is a static sound through the aux feed if lte is enabled. Apple genius' chalk it up to the lte signal around Indianapolis, but it happens when I travel to florida too. So I just disable lte when I want to listen to pandora over a car stereo aux cord.)

Yea I may have to restore to new device. I hate doing it though, setting up my work gmail account is always a PITA for some reason.

Also, just had to find an outlet, 5 hours of use and it was to 3%.
Yikes.

I have experienced a better listening experience with less Top 40 hits and repeat songs after leaving Pandora. RDIO FTW!

Did it again tonight, used pandora in the car and got 20 minutes, strong 4g through aux cord, went through almost 30% and phone was hot!

Did it again today, just restored as new and no backups. If it continues I'll have to trade this for another ip6.

I just exchanged my phone. I set up as a new phone. Did not restore any of my data other than contacts and pics. So far phone has been much better and less hot and laggy.

For comparison today I ran my wife's phone at the same time and same conditions and it was cool to the touch and lost 4% battery on ride home while mine was hot and lost 30%.

Compared this tonight vs my wife's ip6, mine = 25 minutes pandora and 30% battery gone and is hot. My last 24 hour usage shows 50% of my battery life used on pandora, with only 45 minutes actual usage all day with pandora.
My wife's = 27 minutes so far on this test, 4% battery loss and from 2 to now 5% pandora usage last 24 hours. And it's cool to the touch.
Making a genius appointment now.

Yah something isn't right. I streamed pandora all day today and phone did not get hot. Battery held a decent charge. Only plugged in for about 2 hours today.

That sounds about like what I used to get on my iPhone 5 before this one.
I'm scheduled for tomorrow night so we'll see what they say.

In response to the 3rd poster, if my math is correct my battery drained 3.69 times faster than yours on your walk, and you had gps running.

I just got done with my apple appt and got my phone replaced. She ran a diagnostic sweep and found a hiccup in the firmware that shouldn't have been there especially with a fresh 8.1 install as new. She said it could account for whatever was running in the background while using pandora causing it to get hot and drink battery.

Hoping for the best now!

It was flawless until today. Phone got hot with pandora and drained about 5-6% per song.

Was doing it again today, During several tests. When I got home I started to pay attention to how much percentage was drained for every 10 minutes, it was about 15 or 20%and the phone got hot. I Force close Pandora and opened Apple iTunes streaming radio, and have not had a issue since. I have gone through 3% of battery in 30 minutes and the phone is cool. Maybe Pandora just is not a fan of my music selection. With fresh restores in my past and a brand-new iPhone, it's sounding almost possible.

You can change Pandoras advanced settings to stream higher or lower quality audio. Lower quality audio uses less battery and data and it's hard to tell the difference on lower quality headphones or speakers.

This is still happening, just went from 80% to under 20% in about an hour of driving while streaming pandora. So random and weird. I'm on 8.3 now and latest pandora update too.
I was actually on my way to Apple to try on the watch, and spoke with them about it, they still have not seen this as a common complaint, and didnt address it officially by restoring or replacing the phone again because I didn't really have an appointment for that.

Did you do the 8.3 update oTA? Or via iTunes.

This time, ota. But each prior iPhone that I've had replaced for this concern and each prior iOS download was iTunes.

That was the issue with my battery drain. Messed up my pandora when I did it via ota so I had to reinstall the OS via iTunes. Fixed my issue
