I think it was the entire east coast, hit at about 1:55 or 56pm just now. First one I ever felt, kinda weird.

Yes, here in boston, my whole building was swaying back and forth - quite shocking

I did but I was not sure it was one. It was light here in NC, at least where I'm at. Coming from CA my assessment of shaking is probably jaded.

Felt it on Long Island. First one I've ever felt also. Thought the person behind me was rocking my chair.

@jessica the person across from me at my desk is from LA. He thought they were rocking something in the office next door (renovations) and described it as a baby one.

Apparently when there is an earthquake on the east coast all cell towers go down. How ridiculous.

Yup! SMS and 3G work fine for me though. Took a while for me to get in touch with my mom and brother.

Didn't feel the earthquake directly, but the people in our Connecticut office got evacuated so I'm stuck doing their work, so I'm still feeling it ;)

Just need the New Madrid fault to wake up tomorrow and they can do my stuff

We get those pretty often in Alaska...as a result my office is built to be very wobbly - so much so that large semi trucks passing by make it wobble a bit.

DC must be a lousy place to be right now - hot, humid, mosquitos, earthquakes... :D

It not that they go down. Chances are the lines are over load with people trying to make recieve calls, send txt, use data and so on. It so badly slammed it it shows to a crawl to the point that nothing works.

When Rita was heading to Houston, if you were in Houston you could not make or recieve phone calls.
If you where not in Houston but had a Houston number then you could not recieve phone calls and your voice mail did not work but you could make calls.
If you were in Houston and had a number for another area your voice mail would store messages but you could not send or recieve calls.

Txt messages were flaky but txting was not as big then any how.

Ike kill the phones of any type and txt message were slow
