Sometimes its dead on with my phone but many times it can be off as much as 90 degrees. I can be out in the open with no interference. My theory is it takes a reading once in awhile that may or may not be correct then it just uses the gyro. Also I surprised they even put a compass in it since it charges n a magnetic charger. Wonder if it needs to be degaussed? I only use the rubber sport loop.
