Now the new ATV is out I'm thinking of buying one. Currently for catch-up or on-demand I'm using the 'Apps' on my Virgin V6 box, which are very clunky. Would the ATV make this process much easier, in particular resuming from next episodes and Siri commands. For example, can I just say 'play the next episode of Bloodlines' and voila!?
Thanks in advance

It’s not much different than any other tv streaming device.

You’re still going to need iplayer, c4, itv, Netflix, now, Disney+ etc.

Siri is as useless as it is on iPhone also.

What I will say positive though is that I have the ATV HD (probably 5 years old now) that got relegated after we got a 4K tv which now uses a firestick as it’s a much cheaper 4K option.

However, the 5 year old ATV is still a far better user experience in terms of how smooth and fast the UI is.

It’s expensive, don’t expect anything game changing (though mirroring can be useful) but it is a far better user experience than anything else on the market.

That's all good to know. Thanks. Do you actually have the ATV 4K or did you go straight for the Firestick?
Is the resolution decent from the BBC, ITV and C4 streams? I only have the ATV HD which doesn't have downloadable apps so I can't check

We get 1080 streams on our ATV HD from bbc etc.

4K where available and supported on our firestick

Works great for me and has done. I find Apple TV the most integrated of any I have tried. I have a Fire Stick and it works but is not as seamless. I have BBC, ITV (paid for - no ads), C4 (paid for - no ads), BritBox (paid for - no ads), C5 (sadly no option to kill ads), Amazon Prime, Disney+, Apple TV. All integrate into single Apple TV app so I rarely use the separate apps. Same experience on multiple Apple TV, iPad, iPhone and iMac. I have Netlix though use it much less - content not great and lack of Apple TV integration puts me off. I also have Plex and my own Plex server for DVB and my own DVD rips. Final app I use is Infuse for streaming from my content on Google Drive.

I would not use anything else. I can recommend without reservation. Also a great front end for music and the odd game is not bad too. For the money, I find it a great solution and great value.

I have the Virgin 360 box but I much prefer to watch Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ (which are included in my Volt package) on my ATV4K as the picture, sound, and interface is so much better.

I’ve just pulled the trigger and ordered one. We have a LG 4k tv which is a few years old. We have the “ Magic “ remote with the pointer, it feels a bit clunky. I’ll set the Apple TV up when it arrives and see how we get on with the interface. Apple have a no quibble returns policy so it’s worth giving it a fair go. We also have Macbooks and iPhones so can see how the integration works.
