I wanted to try out the Photo Shuffle Lock Screen but my still says "Photo Shuffle is Processing". Any one get past this and how long it take? (BTW my Photo Library is over 85K so perhaps that is why the delay.) Thanks

I haven’t tried it yet, but usually after an update you can have photo processing for a day or two depending on library size.

I have 2k photos, I'm on my 2nd or 3rd day waiting, and still says processing.

I've been able to do so, yes. I have a, 11,000-photo library. I find the interface a little tiresome, searching for photos...but I can also put the effort on the front end, sitting comfortably at my Mac, and make an album of pics I suspect will work well. Anyway, I have been able to get it working.

It set up after about 2 days or so. I agree that the interface for the Lock Screen changes is a bit cumbersome - thanks G-d that Apple is changing how you change the Home Screen backgrounds in iOS 16.1 from what I read here.
I didn't select the pictures, just let it jumble them, though I would like to know how the system picks the photos when on auto select (aside from us picking the types of photos, which is nice).

As a masochist I've decided to let iOS proceed through processing my entire lifetime of photos library. Wondering if this happens automatically in the background, even when I'm not looking at the "Photo Shuffle is Processing" screen? So eventually I'll go back to this screen and it will no longer say that? Someday?

Once the "shuffle" is completed, when you attempt to create a new Lock Screen based on it you will see Photo Shuffle at the top with the options of what types of photos you want included (People, Pets, Nature and Cities) and options for "Shuffle Frequency", and whether you want "Use Featured Photos" (which I don't really know what it means) or Select Photos Manually.
I have on the "Featured Photos" and it looks like the phone selects several photos each day and then shuffles through those each day. Couldn't tell for sure but that's my impression so far.

I guess I'm just wondering if the shuffle will complete even if I don't leave it on the screen that says "photo shuffle is processing." The processing happens in the background once started?

Yes. I never left it on that screen. But my library is almost 90K photos and it took about two days or so to complete.

I noticed that when focus mode is switched to another mode, my shuffle gets broken and reverted back to photo1 and start over again. I feel like the shuffle isn’t really functioning as daily shuffle, it just puts a photo in a set order

Grrr so it doesn’t actually shuffle photos lol it goes through same sequence each time

It appears so. I was wondering if anyone noticed the same or I’m setting it up incorrectly.. first of all, it lets me choose only 50 photos, then it goes through the same sequence. I’m disappointed. Automation with shortcut to randomly pick a wallpaper worked amazingly but doesn’t work with the new widgets.. also home screen wallpaper shuffle is not available.

I think - at least that is what I see with a rather large photo library (over 90,000 photos and videos) - that it selects a large number of photos in the original setup, then it selects a much smaller amount (possibly less than 10) to circulate for a day. I have it set where it changes the photo whenever the iPhone 14 sleeps or is shut down, not whenever I tap on it. Again, this is just what I think. I have not taken the time to actually count how many different photos I see each day, just what it seems to me.

One month after upgrading to iOS 16 and I’m still getting “Photo Shuffle is Processing”. 152k photos is a lot, but surely it should be done by now. It’s just stuck and never going to work for me, right?

For what it’s worth I have 50k photos and the processing took a few days. I looked through the collections and suggestions but didn’t find any of them useful. I just create the manual photo shuffles and love those!

62k photos here. Still processing. Yesterday, I cleared some storage space on my 64GB iPhone 11, so that it has 5+ GB to work with instead of just 1 or 2. Maybe that will speed things up…

I just used a wallpapers album that I had already created. Shame to hear about “shuffle” being the same idea they used in the Music app. That crap has always pissed me off.
