My online order from Apple is due to be delivered in late April and I actually don't mind waiting. I'm hoping that Apple will have worked out any kinks by that production run. One can always hope.

Just went to RS at Union Square in NY. They guy said that they will only sell them in bundle with AppleCare and a Case.
