I have a 2010 MacBook air 11" base model and am thinking about getting a 2012 MacBook Air 11" or 13". If anyone has done this or something similar I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Specifically, how's performance, heat, noise, and battery life? Thanks!

Yes I did. My 2010 died in a horrible kitchen accident, and it was 750 to fix. So I put up the additional couple of 100 bucks, and got a machine that was ostensibly twice as fast. Most stuff, who knows, it doesn't seem that much faster, pretty much the same. (Not compared to say going from macbook to MBA was).

Launching Microsoft office MUCH faster... Backlit keyboard pretty cool, new magsafe connector kinda annoying.

Still my favorite computer forever. Until they go retina... 3 years?

I still have my 2010 MBA11 which has the upgraded CPU, 4 gigs memory and a 128 gig SSD. I replaced it with a 2012 MBA11, I7/8 gig/256 gig. Performance is great and no issues with heat, noise or battery life.
