Of course the pros have 120hz and more zoom but there are not a lot of differences and lower weight on the 16 plus (personally I like the look of the stacked camera, just looks cleaner) - Is anyone considering this year a 16 plus? If so would love to hear why.

I had several Plus/Max iPhones before dropping down to the 14 Pro. While one-handed use is much easier with the standard size phone, I do miss that larger screen. I will be going back to the Pro Max size for my next iPhone, whatever model that may be.

I'm opposite - going from 14+ to 16 Pro.

14+ has been amazing - battery life is almost 2x that of the 14PM (from my work).

I need AOD for my EV's phone as a key feature and that's the only reason I did not go back to 16+.

Yeah, I was planning to go for the 16 Pro Max but decided yesterday to go for the 16 Plus instead!

Obviously the 16 Pro Max is better, but it's not 'hundreds of dollars better'.

I would have liked the extra camera features, like ProRes... but in reality, I'll be never using it. Then the only real differentiators become the third camera and the always-on 120 Hz display.

Yes, I prefer 120 Hz, but I deal with 60 Hz just fine. It's really only relevant for smoother scrolling. There's no difference in videos, for example.

Yes, the third camera is nice... but is it worth the significant premium in price?

I switched from 14 pro to 15 plus because of the battery life. After a year with the 15 plus, I’m upgrading to 16 Pro Max. With the Plus, I missed AOD, and the camera features (3x/5x). I’m probably one of the few people who can’t tell the difference between 60hz and 120hz.

16 pm will be nice but a best! Biggest phone out there ?

This is something I considered. I am currently using a 15 PM and really want a lighter device. I do also think the stacked camera setup looks way better.

But, I will most likely go with the 16 Pro this year (even though I preordered a 16 PM, hoping to exchange) for the following reasons:

  • 120Hz screen. When I tried to use my 15 PM by limiting it to 60Hz the scrolling really bothered me. Perhaps I would get used to this but I couldn’t make it half of a day.
  • Always on display (AOD). I use this often to quickly glance at my phone to see if I have anything that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. This prevents me from having to randomly tap my phone screen to see what notifications I have.
If the 16/16 Plus had even a 90Hz display with AOD that would’ve been enough for me. I will never use the fancy camera system on the pro models. I just “point and shoot” and the 16/16 Plus would be more than enough for me there. This is the closest I’ve been to considering a non-Pro device since the 11 Pro released.

But the teal and ultramarine colors look really good, so it’s very tempting to see if I can live with the 60Hz and no-AOD.

Yeah, I get it. I definitely like the lighter weight. I just think that I found some particular getting too heavy but living without ao could be difficult.

I like the the extra zoom the pro version has in the pro camera.

The only way I see myself going back to regular iPhone or the plus version is if Apple puts a 5x zoom on it like the pro version.

I use to bring a Sony rx100 24-200 point and shoot camera with me while traveling coz I like to shoot photos and videos while traveling, but my iPhone 15 pro max has filled that role for me.

Going from 13pro to 16plus, it’ll be my first ‘big’ iPhone. I’ve been thinking about waiting another year but this years plus has an incredible amount going for it and when you consider the difference in price between the two big phones - the plus is pure bang for buck! Something that stands out on the reviews is how well the audio mix works. I think it’s fantastic how many similarities there are between the pro and base models this year. I’m really excited!

I probably won't upgrade from my 15P but the 16+ is tempting me. My 13PM had better battery life than my 15P does, and the thermals are awful on my unit. I understand the 15s aren't hot for everyone, but it's enough to make me consider an upgrade on its own. The 16+ has better battery than 15P, but 16PM is even more. And it can be pushed further with disabling promotion and AOD.... but I really like promotion.

With trading in my 15P and a 12 mini, I'd be out of pocket about $200. I'd probably sell them instead anyway.

It's tough, I disabled promotion and hated the choppy experience. I also don't use my camera for anything crazy, most of my photo library is memes (please bring multiple library support to iOS like how it exists on macOS!)

I really like the teal too, and wish Apple would add at least 90Hz. I was thinking about getting a non-pro 15 last year. All that moved me up was promotion and the action button. I like the natural titanium since it matches my AWU, but I really like the 15 and 16 colors.

Edit: I did snag a teal 16 Plus after all. One of the Apple employees asked about the drop from 120Hz to 60Hz. I told him that my preference would be at least 90Hz, but I can live with 60Hz. On the note of the camera, camera control is interesting and may encourage me to take more photos. The 2x cropped zoom is adequate.

I tried it on my last go round. I found I had gotten too used to the size and immediately missed it. Went right back.

Have an incoming 16PM but ready to return for a 16+ if it ends up being too much :) Did this dance with the 14PM too. Used it for a day before going to the 14+ and have been a Plus fan since. It’s really the battery and the extra 0.2” that is making me start with the 16PM this time.

As much as I would like to save some money and get the 16, the main reason I’m upgrading is for the better camera specifically the ultrawide as it’s one of my favorites to use but has always felt a little lacking because of the 12MP limit. Until the ultrawide camera on the non pro models improves I’ll be sticking with the Pro.

That's how I went last time but I really miss that extra screen real estate. The dedicated camera button should alleviate my trouble with one-handed use.

15+ to 16 Pro.

I got the 15+ mainly for its weight and battery. The 6.3" screen on the 16 Pro makes it a little easier to swap (vs 6.1") and with the same weight and improved battery - I'm thinking this will be a nice change.

Doing the same. Hope the battery life is similar to the 15 plus

I’m going from 15 Pro to 16 Pro Max. I love the form factor, one handed use, and performance of Pro over Pro Max.

The issue is battery life. I can’t make it through a full day without topping off.

If 16 Plus had a 90hz display it would've been perfect IMO.

Agree !

The battery life on the Plus is amazing.

I think going to 6.3" Pro is adequate for me since I already have the massively heavy 14PM from work with a battery life that barely lasts a day.

I would get the 16+ if it came with 256GB standard like the Pro Max. Paying additional for the 256GB on the 16+ then I think what's an extra $200? Rather have the Pro then.
