as title, I have the basic M2 Pro (16gb 512gb) and thinking of getting the M4 Pro (24gb 512gb).
I use Davinci resolve more now so might give better performance in that, but has anyone made the move and noticed much of a difference?

I did! The new mini is amazing. Quiet, powerful! No regrets here. I've thrown a lot of decoding at it and it's quiet and fast.

How’s that possible when there is a 500 thread post on how loud it is! 😂 babies.

How would I test the speed/performance of my M2 Pro vs M4 Pro and normal M4?

You’ll spend a lot of money for very little noticeable change in performance. If your memory pressure is often yellow/red, then getting 32/48/64gb might be worth doing. Otherwise the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.

Want of the reasons I want to change, besides the fact I like the smaller size is that I want 10gbe option. I guess I could get a 2.5 gbe usb-c dongle, but don’t read a lot of positive stories on those and would rather have it built in.

Yep, decided to give it a miss and wait for M5 or 2nd hand one with more memory (32GB min)!

Here’s some data from Puget Systems benchmark for DaVinci Resolve Studio:

Ordered one last night have on it now! SO far everything is slightly more nippy, I need more USB ports so might need a hub as I use a 2TB USB Nano drive for backups.

Going to try out Davinci and see how it goes.....
